Lassen Volcanic National Park

Lassen Volcanic National Park was one of the prettiest places I've been so far. My second National Park, (Crater Lake being my first). I feel very lucky have have had two great days of exploring this magical place.

My first stop was to go check out Brokeoff Volcano. In the photo below you can see the two peaks, and in the middle is where the volcano used to be.

Next, was the Sulpher Works. Boiling hot water rises forming this boiling mud pot. This is the easiest of the parks hydrothermal areas to get to with access right on the sidewalk.

Below is Lake Helen which sits at the base of Lassen Peak.

My next stop was Mill Creek Falls. Mill Creek Falls trail in a moderate rated hike of 3.8 miles.

Below, is Mill Creek Falls.

I pulled over to the side of the road and just admired the amazing view.
Below, is party of the trail to Kings Creek Falls. The stone staircase was incredible!

After Kings Creek Falls, I called it a night and camped at the Summit Lake South Campground.
The next morning, I woke up bright and early to conquer Lassen Peak!
Below are a couple pictures I captured on the way to the trailhead during sunrise.

Lassen Peak Trail ia rated as 'hard', with an out and back distance of 5.1 miles. It's the highest peak in the park, and is an active volcano! The elevation is 10,457 feet. This is officially the highest elevation mountain I've climbed so far!
